What to do if videos or games don’t start
If you can’t launch a YouTube video, Facebook game, or other media files, try following the steps below.
They can help if:
- the video or game won’t load;
- a blank page loads instead of a video or game;
- instead of a video or game, a gray field appears on the screen;
- Chrome freezes or returns an error when loading a video or game.
Important! Adobe will stop supporting the Flash Player plugin in 2021. Flash content, including audio and video, will not be played in any version of Chrome.

Step 1. Enable JavaScript
To run some media files (such as YouTube), you need to enable JavaScript support. Here’s how to do it:
- Open Chrome on your computer
- Tap the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the screen
Settings. - Please selectPrivacy and Security
Site settings. - Click JavaScript
Allow sites to use JavaScript. - Go to the site with the video or game. In the upper-left corner, click the “Refresh this page” icon
Step 2. Check extensions, plugins, cache, and cookies
Errors may occur due to installed Chrome extensions or plugins, as well as data stored in the cache or browser history.
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- Tap the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the screen

Step 3: Update Chrome
Sometimes you need the latest version of Chrome to run videos and games.
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- Tap the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the screen
- Please selectUpdate Google Chrome. If you don’t have this option, it means that you have the latest version of the browser.
- ClickRestart it.
- Go to the site with the video or game. In the upper-left corner, click the “Refresh this page” icon
Step 4. Reset your Chrome settings
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- Tap the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the screen

Step 5. Reconnect to the Internet
Sometimes your internet connection settings interfere with running a video or game.
- Turn off your computer.
- Disconnect the modem and wireless router (if it is a separate device).
- Wait about a minute.
- Connect your modem and router and wait for the lights to stop flashing.
- Turn on your computer.
- Go to the site with the video or game. In the upper-left corner, click the “Refresh this page” icon
